Luke Weathers Flight Academy

The Luke Weathers Flight Academy (LWFA) is a flight school dedicated to honoring Lieutenant Colonel Luke Weathers Jr.’s pioneering contributions to aviation and aerospace. Located at Olive Branch Airport, it offers various training programs, including FAR 141 and 61 Flight Training, JET Transition Training, Maintenance, Air Traffic Control Academy, UAV Pilot Training, Military Rotor Fixed Wing Transition, Air Force Candidate Flight Training, and mentoring.

In collaboration with the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP), the academy provides life-changing training for students in the Memphis area and beyond, aiming to make them skilled pilots. The OBAP LWFA Professional Pilot Program is designed to take students from zero experience to an airline pilot job in two to three years, following a fast-track training approach that exceeds minimum requirements while maintaining affordability as a non-profit organization with low fixed costs.

LWFA offers a wide range of training, including Private and Instrument training, Commercial Single/Multi training, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) training, Certified Instrument Instructor (CII) training, Certified Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) training, Basic Ground Instructor & Instructor Advance Ground training, Jet Transition training, Military Rotor Fixed Wing Transition, Youth Maintenance and Air Traffic Control Academy, Youth UAV Pilot Training, and mentoring.

Their immersive Pilot Program allows students to graduate in just nine months, starting from zero flight time, obtaining a Commercial Single-Engine pilot certificate and Certificated Flight Instructor certificate. Upon graduation, LWFA/Air Venture provides guaranteed Flight Instructor positions that may lead to airline tuition reimbursement and the required flight experience to meet airline hiring minimums of 1500 hours.
