Pilotsmith’s Discovery Flight program provides an excellent introduction to flight training, offering hands-on experience in small aircraft. Each session includes 30 minutes of ground instruction, covering safety procedures, aircraft operation, preflight inspections, and more. The flight portion varies with options for 30 minutes or 1 hour of flight time. During the flight, participants can take the controls of the aircraft, combining a demonstration with a mini-lesson. The base 30-minute or 60-minute discovery flight has a 1-year expiration period.
Flights operate under Visual Flight Conditions in good weather conditions. A second person can join for an additional surcharge, but weight limits apply.
The program is available at multiple locations, with specific flight types offered at each:
- Green Bay, WI: Cessna and Cirrus Discovery Flights
- Appleton, WI: Cessna Discovery Flights ONLY
- Timmerman Milwaukee, WI: Cirrus Discovery Flights ONLY
Various upgrades are available for Discovery Flights, including an extended redemption period, adding a second person, or including a Pilot Logbook endorsed by the instructor.
